Leeds city centre is well-connected. Leeds train station (LDS) is about a 10-15 minute walk from Leeds Minster, with frequent services from London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham and other major cities. When you arrive at Leeds Station, you can easily hop into a taxi or take a local bus to the Minster (many buses stop near Kirkgate, which is right by the church). The city is quite compact, so once you are in central Leeds it is often just as quick to walk and enjoy the sights along the way.
By air, the nearest airport is Leeds Bradford (LBA), roughly 20 minutes by car from the city centre. LBA offers flights from across the UK and Europe. Regular airport shuttles (the Flyer 757 or 737 bus) and taxis run between LBA and Leeds city centre. From the airport, you can take bus route 757 (also called Flyer) directly to Leeds Bus Station or the city centre. For more international connections, Manchester Airport is about a 90-minute train journey from Leeds, with frequent trains linking the two cities.
If you plan to drive, Leeds is accessible via major motorways. The city sits at the intersection of the M1 (from London) and the M62 (east-west across Yorkshire). The M621 spur leads directly into the city centre. Enter the postcode LS2 7DJ into your GPS to navigate straight to Leeds Minster. Do note that parking in the city centre can be limited during big events. Consider using a Park & Ride service (for example, at Elland Road stadium or Hornbeam Park) and take a bus or taxi the rest of the way into Leeds.
Once you are in Leeds, getting around is easy. The city centre is compact and walkable, so if you are staying near the centre or train station, you can reach Leeds Minster on foot in just minutes. The city even offers a free central shuttle bus (route 2) and other local buses that circle the city centre and stop near the Minster. Taxis and ride-hailing services like Uber are plentiful throughout the city. Regular trains and buses also connect Leeds with nearby towns such as Bradford, Harrogate, and York, all of which are short, direct trips away.
Leeds offers a wide range of accommodation to suit every need. From upscale hotels and boutique guesthouses in the city centre to budget hostels and private rentals, you will find many options within walking distance of the festival site. Popular areas to stay include near Leeds Station, around City Square, or along The Headrow (all about a 5-10 minute walk from Leeds Minster). Because festival weekends tend to fill up quickly, it is wise to book your room well in advance. If central Leeds hotels sell out, consider nearby cities like York or Harrogate, both of which have frequent train services into Leeds.
