Jade

Jade is the professional name of Gábor Simon, a drum and bass artist and label manager based in Budapest. He works in drum and bass and electronic music, with a strong focus on neurofunk. He is associated with the Eatbrain label, which he also founds and manages, and his work appears on that imprint as well as on other drum and bass labels.

Career and style

His productions are known for a dark, deep neurofunk sound, with experimental and avant-garde technoid influences. He is one of Hungary’s prominent drum and bass DJs and producers, and he works alongside artists such as Chris.SU and Matt-U. His catalogue includes material on Citrus, Moving Shadow Records and Black Sun Empire Recordings.

Releases and collaborations

Jade’s debut album, Venom, is released on the Dutch Citrus label and includes both typical neurofunk tracks and more experimental, downtempo pieces. Among his best-known tracks are the collaboration with Matt-U, Got Lost, and the tracks Acid Flood and Unexist, with the latter two appearing on Black Sun Empire’s Endangered Species.
