Kasabian

Kasabian are an English rock band from Leicester, formed in 1997. The group is named after Linda Kasabian, who was the getaway driver at the Tate-LaBianca murders committed by members of the Manson Family.

Line-up

The band includes Sergio Pizzorno on guitar, synths and vocals, Christopher Edwards on bass, Ian Matthews on drums and Tim Carter on guitar. The wider line-up also includes Christopher Karloff and former frontman Tom Meighan, along with long-serving touring members Ben Kealey and Gary Alesbrook, both involved since 2006. Meighan leaves the group in 2020 after being fired following an assault conviction involving his fiancée, and the band continues as a four-piece.

Style and influences

Kasabian are associated with alternative rock, indie rock, alternative dance, dance-punk, indietronica and neo-psychedelia. They are also compared with Primal Scream and Oasis.

Albums and singles

Their self-titled debut album arrives in 2004 and includes the UK top 10 single “Cutt Off”. It is followed by Live from Brixton Academy in 2005, Empire in 2006, which includes the UK top 10 single “Empire”, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum in 2009, which includes the international hit “Fire”, Velociraptor! in 2011, Live! in 2012, 48:13 in 2014, For Crying Out Loud in 2017, The Alchemist's Euphoria in 2022 and Happenings in 2024. The Alchemist's Euphoria is the first album released after Meighan's dismissal.
