Alisha is the stage name of Alisha Ann Itkin, an American singer from Brooklyn, United States, born in 1968. She is associated with freestyle, dance-pop, pop and synth-pop, and is best known for a run of dance-chart singles in the 1980s and 1990s.

Career

Alisha’s self-titled debut album appears on Vanguard Records and is produced by Mark Berry. It includes the singles “All Night Passion”, “Baby Talk” and “Too Turned On”, all of which chart on the US Hot Dance list; “Baby Talk” reaches number one, “All Night Passion” reaches number four and “Too Turned On” reaches number six. The album sells over two million copies.

Her second album, Nightwalkin', appears on RCA Records in 1987. It includes “Do You Dream About Me?”, which is used for the film Mannequin, and “Into My Secret”, which reaches number nine on the US Hot Dance chart. In 1990 she releases Bounce Back on MCA Records, produced by Michael Jay. That album includes the title track, which reaches number ten on the US Hot Dance chart, and the single “Wrong Number”.

Collaborations and later releases

Bounce Back features background vocals from Martika and Donna De Lory. In 1996, Alisha releases the dance single “Wherever The Rhythm Takes Me”, produced for Critique/Fever Records. In 1999 she is chosen to sing “You Wanna Be A Star”, the title song for the film Superstar, starring Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon. She also re-records “All Night Passion” and releases a Hi-NRG dance single. After taking time away to have a family, she returns to singing and recording.
