Chase & Status

Chase & Status are an electronic production duo from London, United Kingdom, made up of Saul “Chase” Milton and Will “Status” Kennard. The group is active from 2003 and is associated with drum and bass, dubstep and electronic music, alongside breakbeat, breaks, club, dance and disco.

Chart success and albums

The duo scores several UK Dance Chart number ones in the late 2000s. These include the double A-side “Hurt You”/“Sell Me Your Soul” in 2007, “Take Me Away”/“Judgement (Informer)” in 2008, and “Pieces” featuring Plan B, which also reaches number 70 on the national singles chart. “Against All Odds”, featuring Kano, reaches number 45 in 2009.

Their first album, More Than Alot, enters the UK album chart at number 49 and reaches number 2 on the UK dance album chart. It wins Best Album at the 2009 Drum and Bass Awards in Birmingham. Their second studio album is No More Idols.

Singles and collaborations

Chase & Status enter the UK Top 40 for the first time with “End Credits”, a track written for the film Harry Brown and featuring Plan B. The song reaches number 9 on the UK Singles Chart. Later singles from No More Idols include “Let You Go”, featuring Mali, which debuts at number 11, “Hypest Hype” featuring Tempa T, and “Blind Faith”, which features Liam Bailey.

They also create “Heavy” with Dizzee Rascal. Outside their own releases, they produce a remix of The Prodigy’s “Invaders Must Die”, which charts in Australia, and they work as producers for Rihanna on Rated R and for Alexandra Burke on Overcome.

Chase & Status are connected with MTA Records and RAM Records. Their work moves from drum and bass into more pop-oriented collaborations, with the aim of reaching a broader audience.
