sombr is the stage name of Shane Michael Boose, an American singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist from New York, United States. Born in 2005, he makes indie pop and pop rock with a profile that also places him in indie and alternative rock contexts.

Boose adopts the name sombr after releasing his debut single, Nothing Left to Say, in 2021. He says the name works as an acronym based on the initials of his own name. His first single to gain wider attention is caroline, released in 2022. The track reaches more than 30 million streams and helps establish his early audience.

He also builds a large following through TikTok, where his music attracts many Gen Z listeners. In 2025, the singles back to friends, undressed and 12 to 12 spread widely on social media and lead to his first appearances on recognised US music charts.
