Tramlines Festival is held at Hillsborough Park (70 Broughton Rd, Sheffield, S6 2AS). The city is well connected by rail: Sheffield Station receives trains from London, Manchester, Leeds and other cities throughout the UK. From the station, a quick way to reach the festival is by tram. Take the Sheffield Supertram (Yellow or Blue line) going toward Hillsborough and alight at the Hillsborough Park tram stop, which is just a few minutes’ walk from the festival entrance. Tickets can be bought at the station or via mobile apps.
If you prefer buses, Stagecoach services 52, 52a and 57 run along Penistone Road (A61) toward Hillsborough Park. Alight at the Hillsborough Park bus stop near the venue. These routes operate frequently on the weekend. You can check schedules and buy tickets on the Stagecoach website/app or via the Traveline Yorkshire planner.
Driving to the festival is not recommended due to heavy traffic and limited parking. If you do drive, approach via the M1 motorway (junction 34) onto the A6102/Penistone Road toward the park. Official paid parking is extremely limited, so many drivers use the Middlewood Park & Ride (free parking) and then take the tram. There is also a paid parking area near Middlewood Road (advance booking may be needed). Taxis and ride-shares can drop you off on Penistone Road or Middlewood Road by the park entrances, but plan for potential congestion during peak times.
The nearest airports are Manchester (about 50 miles southwest) and East Midlands (about 60 miles south). Both have good rail and coach connections to Sheffield. For example, a train from Manchester Airport takes about 1 hour to Sheffield. From East Midlands, trains or buses via Derby/Nottingham take around 1–1.5 hours. Leeds Bradford Airport (about 40 miles north) is another option, with bus links to Leeds or Bradford stations, then train to Sheffield. Once in Sheffield by train or coach, follow the directions above to reach Hillsborough Park.
Sheffield offers a variety of accommodation for all tastes. Book early, as rooms fill up on festival weekends. You’ll find many hotels, guesthouses and hostels in the city center (about 3 miles from the site), as well as a few around Hillsborough. Some student dorms and serviced apartments are also available short-term. Use booking sites like Booking.com or Airbnb to compare options and prices. Since there is no camping onsite, plan to stay in a hotel or similar lodging in or near the city and use public transport or taxis to get to the festival.
