Radio Free Alice is a four-piece band from Melbourne, also described as Naarm/Melbourne, playing an angular indie rock sound with garage rock elements. Their line-up is made up of four musicians, and their music is marked by clean-toned guitars, melodic bass lines, urgent drumming, occasional saxophone and a dramatic, operatic style.

Sound and influences

The band’s style combines immediate, sharp-edged guitar work with strong melodic movement and a tense rhythm section. Their influences range from 1980s bands such as Talking Heads, The Cure, The Smiths and The Sunny Boys to later groups including Parquet Courts, Ought and The Strokes.

Live activity

Radio Free Alice has sold out shows across Australia and has supported The Killers, Royel Otis and Sorry. The group also appears at major showcase and festival events, including SXSW Sydney, The Great Escape in the UK, Bigsound and SXSW Austin in 2025.
