The Vaccines

The Vaccines are a British indie rock band from London, active since 2010. The group’s line-up includes Justin Hayward-Young on vocals and guitar, Freddie Cowan on guitar, Arni Arnason on bass, Pete Robertson on drums, Timothy Lanham, and Yoann Intonti.

They form in 2010 and first record under Marshall Teller Records, where they release their debut single, “Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra)” / “Blow It Up”. Their first radio session is for Marc Riley’s BBC 6 Music show in December 2010, and they also appear on Later with Jools Holland.

In January 2011, the band place third in the BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll. They then sign to Columbia Records and release “Post Break-Up Sex”, which reaches number 32 in the UK. Their debut album, What Did You Expect from The Vaccines?, follows on Columbia and reaches the UK top five.

Further singles from the debut album include “If You Wanna”, “All in White”, “Nørgaard”, and “Wetsuit” / “Tiger Blood”. The band is also nominated for an MTV Award for Best New Band of 2011.

The Vaccines’ sound is associated with alternative rock, garage rock revival, indie rock, post-punk revival, and power pop.
