Lucy Spraggan

Lucy Spraggan is an English singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom. Her music combines acoustic, folk and hip hop elements, and she describes it as “A-Flop”.

Early releases and live appearances

In July 2011, she is announced as the runner-up in the Urban, Pop & Acoustic category of Live and Unsigned. She independently releases her album Top Room At The Zoo in November 2011, with associated videos issued on YouTube. In June 2012, she performs alongside Razorlight at Osfest at the Oswestry Showground in Shropshire.

The X Factor and chart success

Spraggan auditions for The X Factor in 2012 with her own song, “Last Night”. She later withdraws from the competition because of illness and finishes in ninth place overall and second in her category. She is the first contestant in the show’s history to achieve a Top 40 single and album before the live shows air, with Top Room At The Zoo already establishing her profile.

Albums

Her debut major-label album, Join The Club, is released through Columbia Records and reaches number 7 in the UK charts. Her second album, We Are, follows in 2015, preceded by the single “Unsinkable”. A third album, I Hope You Don’t Mind Me Writing, is also listed in her recorded work.
