The Enemy
The Enemy are an indie rock band from Coventry, United Kingdom. The group forms in 2006 and is active through the present day. The line-up consists of Tom Clarke, Andy Hopkins and Liam Watts.
Background and formation
The band begins as Bridges, formed in Leamington Spa in 2002 by Tom Clarke, a vocalist and guitarist from Kenilworth, and drummer Liam Watts, who is from Coventry. Bassist Steve Golder later leaves and Andy Hopkins joins when the band takes the name The Enemy. In its early years the group is known as a three-piece alternative rock band from Warwickshire.
Albums and chart success
The Enemy release their debut album, We'll Live And Die In These Towns, in 2007, and it goes straight to number one in the UK. Their second album, Music for the People, reaches number two on the UK Albums Chart. Streets in the Sky, released in 2012, becomes their third studio album and their third UK top 10 album. Their fourth studio album, It's Automatic, follows in 2015.
Live activity and later work
The band headlines the NME Rock N Roll Riot tour, supported by The Wombats and Lethal Bizzle. They also play their first tour and perform two sold-out nights at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. After disbanding in 2016, they reunite in 2022 for two hometown shows in Coventry and a UK tour. A fifth album, Social Disguises, is associated with the reunion period.
