Sounds from the Other City

Sounds From the Other City festival (SFTOC) is a celebration of new music and performance, uniting the cream of the national and international scene with some of the city’s finest independent promoters, collectives and club nights. Happening regularly on the May Day Bank Holiday each year along the Chapel St corridor of the historic city of Salford, 2018 will be the festivals 14th installment.

The Line Ups and Promoters will be announced in early 2018. Remember that the real star of the show is the fabled Sounds atmosphere. And that’s made by you. So abandon any previous plans and get yourself down to Chapel St on the May Day Bank Holiday.

The Sounds from the Other City wristband exchange is located at Islington Mill. This is the spot that you will need to visit first to exchange your ticket for a wristband that will gain you access to the individual venues. It opens at 2pm on the day of the festival, Sunday April 30th and closes at 9pm. You can get to Islington Mill via:

Train

Salford Central or Salford Crescent stations.

Car

James Street is just off the A6 Chapel Street and is easily accessible via the A56 and A57 and Mancunian Way. Parking is extremely limited around the area.

Foot

Islington Mill is a 10 min walk from Central Manchester via Bridge Steet, Quay Street or Chapel Street.

Bus

Free Shuttle Bus – Service number 3 more info here or Piccadilly Gardens – STOP P – Service number 36 / 37 / 12.  They run every 6 minutes during the day and every 10 minutes in the evening. Ask to go to Chapel Street in Salford. It takes about 10 minutes. You need to get off the bus a couple of stops after Salford Central Station, and turn left by the Carpino Sales Office.
