Aja

Aja is a shared artist name used by several acts, including a pop and R&B duo made up of sisters Jaime and Andrea Anderson, a Steely Dan tribute band from Ohio, a Japanese singer known for performing “Sound Life” in the anime series Trigun, and an amateur recording artist who makes songs for friends on request. The name also appears on several more experimental projects.

Experimental and electronic uses of the name

One Aja is the solo project of Aja Ireland, working in noise, ambient, drone, electronic, and power noise. Another is stylised as AJA and is the solo side-project of Clémence Quélennec, the vocalist of La Femme. That project uses acoustic guitar, vocals, flute, and percussion to build layered soundscapes, and the music draws on spiritual traditions while remaining guided by the artist’s own perspective.
