Werkha

Werkha is an electronic music producer and DJ from Glasgow whose work sits across house and jazz, with a wider sound that also draws on broken beat and soul. He begins releasing music in 2012 with a debut EP, and later works with Brighton-based label Tru Thoughts on a series of releases.

Releases and recordings

In 2015, Werkha releases the album Colours Of A Red Brick Raft on Tru Thoughts. He also contributes co-writing and production to Bryony Jarman-Pinto’s debut album in 2019. His own EP The Rigour includes tracks such as “Generation X”, “The Key” featuring Berry Blacc, “Swing Thru”, “In Sunny G” featuring Ellen Beth Abdi, and “Favourite Corner”, combining synth-led, funk, hip hop, and breakbeat elements with strings and vocal features.

Collaborations and other work

Werkha records remixes for Quantic, Marcos Valles, Dutch Uncles, Andrew Ashong and J-Felix. He also tours across Europe with Bonobo, Mr Scruff and Chet Faker, works with poet and singer Keisha Thompson, and composes music for documentaries.
