Anni Rossi

Anni Rossi is an American singer, songwriter and producer from Minnesota, and she lives in Brooklyn, New York. She works as a solo artist and is also an accomplished multi-instrumentalist. Classically trained from the age of three, she is known for playing an electric viola made from a tree branch by former Swans percussionist Thor Harris. Her playing combines modern guitar and bass techniques with more traditional viola styles.

Rossi’s music develops from folk and singer-songwriter roots into material that also draws on R&B and electronic elements. Her debut album, Scandia, is released in 2005 on Folktale Records. She also completes the album Heavy Meadow in 2010.

She tours extensively in both Europe and the United States, including support slots with The Ting Tings and Electrelane. Rossi also performs as a member of Carla Bozulich’s band. In addition, she plays in Acrylics with Molly Klauber, Molly Shea, Sam Mason, MGMT’s Will Berman and James Richardson.
