Pip Blom

Pip Blom is an Amsterdam-based musician, singer and songwriter. She performs under her own name and also leads the four-piece indie rock band Pip Blom. The project is rooted in indie rock and is also associated with lo-fi, garage rock, rock and crank wave.

Early work and development

Blom starts writing songs after being advised to ignore people who want to change her music. She first works with a three-string Loog guitar and then releases the 14-track demo album Short Stories in 2013. Over the following years, her sound develops from these early recordings into a fuller band format.

Band and releases

Pip Blom becomes a four-piece indie rock band with Blom on lead vocals and guitar, Tender Blom on guitar and backing vocals, and Darek Mercks on bass. The band’s debut full-length album, Boat, is released on Heavenly in 2019. It is followed by Welcome Break in 2021 and Bobbie in 2023. The later album moves towards a more electronic sound, and that approach is extended on the Grip EP in 2025.

Live activity

The band performs at festivals in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and elsewhere, including Lowlands and Glastonbury. It also develops a reputation as a headline act in the UK.
