Hylands Park is located in Chelmsford, Essex, roughly 1.5 miles (2.5 km) southeast of the city center. If you are coming by train, Chelmsford Station is the nearest mainline station, with frequent services running from London Liverpool Street (journey about 30 minutes) and other regional cities. From the station or town center, local taxis or buses (for example, Arriva buses 22 and 351) can drop you nearby Hylands Park, or you can enjoy a short scenic walk to the festival entrance.
For longer-distance travel, consider coach services. The festival partners with Big Green Coach, offering direct routes from London, Birmingham, Norwich and other cities. National coach operators also run to Chelmsford, providing daily connections from major UK towns and cities. Once in Chelmsford, a taxi or local bus will take you to the park.
If you are driving, Hylands Park is easily accessible. Approaching from London or the west, take the M25 to junction 28 and follow signs onto the A12 toward Chelmsford. From the north, follow the M11 and then the A414 into Chelmsford. The A12 continues past Chelmsford and has an exit for Hylands Park (look for festival signage). Car parking is available on site (book in advance if possible) and staff will be on hand to direct you. As always, follow the event signage rather than relying solely on GPS in this busy area.
Traveling by air, the nearest major airport is London Stansted, about 18 miles away (roughly a 30–40 minute drive). Another option is London City Airport, around 34 miles from Chelmsford by road. Both Stansted and City Airports have good rail or taxi connections to Chelmsford, after which you can continue by local transport. Many international visitors also fly into Heathrow or Gatwick and travel onward via London to reach Chelmsford.
When it comes to overnight stays, State Fayre has options for every preference. On-site camping (including glamping tents and campervan pitches) lets you sleep just steps from the music and BBQ. If hotels and guesthouses are more your style, Chelmsford has a range of accommodations – from budget-friendly inns to boutique hotels – all within a short drive of the festival site. We recommend booking early, as local lodgings can fill up during busy weekends. Staying in Chelmsford means you’ll also enjoy easy access to cafes, shops and public transport when you need a break from the festival action.
