Wilderness: Best of British!
"The forecast was for the finest weekend of weather the summer had seen so far, meaning wellies were left in the cupboard under stairs. Instead of rainmacs and w"

Wilderness is roughly 70 miles out of central London, located in the Oxfordshire countryside.
The village of Charlbury is the nearest village and is based a 1.6mile drive from the festival site. Charlbury rail station provides a regular rail service from Oxford, so whichever part of the world you are coming from there is a quick and easy route to this lovely part of Oxfordshire.
Wilderness asks all its guests driving to site not to drive through local villages to minimize the disruption. The festival works closely with a traffic management group to position clear event signage along all of the main access routes prior to the event weekend.
The directions below avoid all local villages…
The event is just outside a small village called Charlbury, north west of Oxford — the directions and the postcode you use for your satnav will depend on where you are coming from, so please look at the directions relevant to your point of origin.
As you approach the estate yellow AA road signs will guide you into the festival, so keep your eyes peeled! When you see the signs follow them not your satnav…
Head to the A34/A44 (pear tree) interchange and then use the A44 north through Woodstock and turn left down the B4437 towards Charlbury. Follow postcode OX20 1HT.
Follow the A40 (or M4/A419/A361) to Burford, then take the A361 towards Chipping Norton and then take the B4437
towards Charlbury. Follow postcode OX18 4EN.
Take the Banbury turn off and follow the A361 towards and then through Chipping Norton. Turn left on the B4437towards charlbury. Follow postcode OX18 4EN
There will be plenty of parking spaces to use on the festival site. Please don’t park on verges, in fire lanes, in gateways or on private roads. Parking will be clearly signposted when approaching the site and entering the site.
Alternatively please see details below for our car sharing scheme, public transport and information on the Bike2Basics program run by Wilderness this year.
If you are driving to Wilderness PLEASE come with a full car. If you can’t fill it with old friends, please fill it with new ones.
Wilderness car share is available for anyone, and is completely free! The scheme aims to match festival goers together that are travelling the same direction, helping people to reduce travel costs, making their journey more fun and enabling them to meet new people while doing their bit for the environment by taking as many unnecessarily used cars off the road as possible.
We have teamed up with Liftshare to help reduce the amount of cars on the road, encouraging all our guests to do their little bit for the environment.
Anyone can join the Wilderness car share scheme by simply clicking the link below and registering their details.
For a gold star and a great adventure, cycle to the Wilderness with Bike2Basics who will be organising relaxed tours from London this summer. There's no better way to start the weekend than with the wind in your hair and a flush in your cheeks. The Bike2basics team strap speakers to their bikes, welcoming music requests to help kick start the festival feeling. You will be able to lock your bike at bike parks clearly signposted and positioned onsite. Click HERE to get involved.
All-day visitors and campers are welcome to use the Wilderness Festival bus pick up service. The bus will operate from Charlbury station and will drop guests at the main entrance. The bus will unfortunately not be wheelchair friendly (with step access onto the bus) and will be running for all festival attendees.
Charlbury is the nearest rail station with regular services from Oxford Rail Station. Oxford rail station has direct rail connections to London Paddington, Bristol Town, Reading, Bournemouth, Manchester Piccadilly and Newcastle.
Please note: No closures are currently scheduled on the rail routes, however it is advised that you check before starting your journey (National Rail link is provided below).
