Beverley Folk Festival

Beverley Folk Festival logo
Beverley Racecourse, East Yorkshire

The festival was established in 1983 and was organised by the White Horse Folk Club, based in Beverley. It has developed over the years into one of this country’s most popular festivals of its kind.

The 30th Beverley Folk Festival (21 - 23 June 2013) will take place at the Beverley Racecourse, HU17 8QZ.

Whilst remaining relatively small and intimate, if offers a programme of artists that some of the larger festivals find hard to beat.

It aims to provide an eclectic programme to interest all age groups and interests.

Musical genres cover Folk, Acoustic, World Music, Americana, Contemporary and some Classic Rock, whilst it retains its roots in the Traditional music of the British Isles, the music is a terrific mix of new and old, big stage set piece performances along with intimate break out sessions

But the Beverley experience doesn’t just include music. Over the past few years, it has added to its events focussing on the Written and Spoken Word, Poetry; Comedy and an increasingly popular ‘Festival Film Club.

For the night owls there is The ‘Wold Top’ Real Ale bar - the perfect place to meet friends new and old. Where better to relive the events of the day – Yorkshire hospitality at its best.

It has developed a Youth Programme (Area2) that has gathered a cult following amongst young performers and audiences and is now legendary – will you spot tomorrows big names amongst the many talented young entertainers?

It continues to provide a platform for new and local artists as well as top national and international acts

Its Family Events have gained it nominations 2 years in a row for the Family Friendly Festival in the UK Festival Awards.

A family friendly festival with cheerful and helpful volunteers and a big warm atmosphere.

All this plus great entertainment – what more can you wish for!

Music, Dance, Literature and Comedy: An eclectic mix for a perfect weekend.

Big enough for you to be part of a great festival experience but not too big and impersonal and all set in the stunning market town of Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire.
