Wendy Arrowsmith
Wendy Arrowsmith is a Scottish folk singer based in Yorkshire. Born in Glasgow, she works as a classically trained performer who specialises in traditional folk music and her own folk-style songs. She performs both solo and with other musicians.
Musical work
Arrowsmith records under her own name and has issued a series of albums, including Seeds Of Fools and Now Then. Her repertoire includes original songs as well as traditional material. She sings and plays guitar, whistles, bodhran, mandolin and accordion.
Collaborations and projects
Her projects include One Stone, with fiddler Rebekah Findlay, and Blind Summat!, a ceilidh and string band featuring Paul Arrowsmith on 5-string banjo and vocals, Joolz Cavell on percussion, guitar and vocals, and Rebekah Findlay on fiddle, guitar and vocals.
Awards
Arrowsmith's original songs receive awards at folk events. “The Visitor” wins at Saltburn Folk Festival, “Sleep Well ’Till Morning” wins at Scarborough Seafest, and “Hearth Song” wins at Ryedale Folk Festival.
