Ben Parcell

Ben Parcell is a UK singer-songwriter whose work sits between folk and pop punk. He begins as a solo artist in 2010 and develops a style that combines pop, rock and folk elements. His listed influences include The Beatles, Frank Turner, Elvis Costello, Green Day and The Ataris.

Career

Parcell plays around 100 gigs across England and Scotland, and supports UK acoustic artists including Edwina Hayes, Ryan Spendlove and Ben Marwood. His music moves towards a stronger folk direction in 2011, when he releases the EP Painted By Numbers. That record is an acoustic release with four tracks and includes a guest appearance from Edwina Hayes.

His song The Only One appears on the benefit compilation Unity on Engineer Records, alongside acts including The Gaslight Anthem, Fightstar, Funeral for a Friend and Luke Pickett. His debut music video, Close Your Eyes, receives airplay on Lava TV on Sky Digital.

Releases and radio play

Parcell self-produces and independently releases his debut ten-track album Humble Beginnings. He plays all the instruments on the limited edition pressing of 1,000 CDs. The album receives several positive reviews from respected publications. He also appears in a live acoustic session for BBC Radio Humberside, invited by Alan Raw, and his album tracks are played on Yorkshire Coast Radio, where he is featured as an undiscovered artist of the week.
