Skye is the stage name of Skye Edwards, a British singer from London, born in 1974. She is best known as the lead vocalist of Morcheeba, the trip-hop group she fronts, with a break from the band until 2010 before returning to sing on Blood Like Lemonade. She is also credited as part of the duo Skye and Ross.
Career
Edwards shortens her name to Skye by using the first letter of each of her given names, Shirley, Klarisse and Yonavive. She sings on the charity singles Perfect Day in 1997, for BBC Children in Need, and Band Aid 20 in 2004, for famine relief in Sudan.
She is signed to Atlantic Records UK. Her debut solo album, Mind How You Go, is followed by Keeping Secrets on Skywards Recordings in 2009.
Morcheeba
Edwards is the singer for Morcheeba and returns to the band after a period away. During her absence, Daisy Martey, formerly of Noonday Underground, takes over vocals for the group. Martey does not tour after the release of Morcheeba’s first album with her, The Antidote, and Jody Sternberg replaces her on the road. Edwards later reconnects with Ross Godfrey at her manager’s office, and after meeting and discussing a possible collaboration they agree to make another Morcheeba record.
Personal
Edwards has two children, a son and a daughter.
