Wilkinson is the stage name of Mark Wilkinson, a London-born UK drum and bass producer and DJ. He is associated with drum and bass and electronic music and releases work on RAM Records, Hospital Records and Virgin EMI.

Career

Wilkinson starts making music while still a teenager and sets up a studio in South West London in 2009, where he develops his production work. His music gains attention in 2010 from DJs including Andy C, Cyantific, TC and London Elektricity. After sending tracks to Hospital Records, he receives his first release on the Sick Music 2 compilation, issued in 2010.

His debut single, Moonwalker / Samurai, appears on RAM Records in December 2010 after first being premiered through Andy C’s Nightlife 5 compilation. He follows it with Every Time / Overdose in 2011, a release that includes vocals from Marcus Gregg and becomes his first single to have a music video. Later singles include Tonight / Pistol Whip, Automatic / Hands Up!, Need to Know / Direction featuring Iman, Take You Higher / Crunch, Heartbeat featuring P Money and Arlissa, Afterglow, Too Close featuring Detour City, and Half Light.

Albums and chart success

Wilkinson’s debut album, Lazers Not Included, is released in 2013. It reaches number 46 on the UK Albums Chart and number 2 on the UK Dance Chart. The album’s best-known single is Afterglow, a collaboration with uncredited vocals by Becky Hill, which reaches number 8 on the UK Singles Chart and becomes his first UK top 10 hit.

He later releases Hypnotic, described as his second album, and in 2020 collaborates with Sub Focus on the album Portals, which reaches number 1 on the OCC Dance Chart. In 2022 he releases Cognition, which includes the singles Here For You with Becky Hill and Used To This with Issey Cross.

Collaborations and production work

Wilkinson works with a wide range of artists beyond his solo releases. He produces for Katy B, Wretch 32 and Angel Haze, and also works with Calvin Harris, The Prodigy, Chase & Status and Becky Hill. His profile grows through support from DJs such as Annie Mac and MistaJam, alongside broader backing within drum and bass circles.
