About Leyland Festival

First held in 1889, Leyland Festival 2027 returns to Worden Park, Leyland as a family festival with music spanning pop, rock and dance.

The roots are local. The event began as a children’s fete and quickly became a Village Revel, before a 1951 revival tied it to the Festival of Britain and the official opening of Worden Park.

A later revival arrived in 2009 as the Leyland Transport Festival, with Leyland Festival Ltd established in 2016 to run the event voluntarily. In 2024, the festival reported its largest parade this century.

Lineup and Programme

Three named areas carry the programme. The Main Stage and Queen’s Garden Stage cover live music and DJ sets, while Worden Motor Village sits on the wider site.

The music programme spans pop/rock, dance/house, indie/acoustic, soul and ska. Away from the stages, the day takes in the Leyland town-centre parade, children’s activities and community stalls.

Who Is It For?

Families sit at the centre. The festival is described as an all-ages community event, with parade spectators, local traders and volunteers all part of the day.

Children’s activity runs through the Kids Zone and Family Fun Zone, with bouncy castles, sports, funfair elements, crafts and a quiet zone. Recent editions have been free and unticketed for attendees.

The Venue and Site

Worden Park sets the footprint. The public park covers 60 hectares less than a quarter of a mile from Leyland town centre, with festival activity also extending along the parade route through town.

Facilities include portable toilets, disabled-access and wheelchair-accessible toilets, food and drink vendors, and limited seating. Blankets and camping chairs are permitted, and bag searches take place on arrival.
