Reg Meuross is an English singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom whose work sits in the folk and Celtic traditions. He is based in Somerset, England.
Early career
He first comes to attention on the British acoustic music scene as a member of The Panic Brothers, formed with comedian Richard Morton. The duo build a live reputation for witty songs and a warm stage presence, touring in the UK and abroad.
The Panic Brothers release In The Red, produced by Clive Gregson. The group also appears regularly on television, including Friday Night Live, and performs at festivals such as Edinburgh, Sidmouth and Glastonbury.
Band work
Meuross later forms The Flamingos, described as a roots band. The line-up includes ex-Graham Parker guitarist Martin Belmont, Bob Loveday, who has played with the Penguin Café Orchestra and Bob Geldof’s band, and Alison Jones of The Barely Works. The group records Arrested in 1991.
Solo career
Meuross releases his first solo album, The Goodbye Hat, in 1996. It receives critical acclaim and is nominated for several music awards, including an award for best song for “Ring Around The Roses”.
His later albums include Short Stories (2004), Still (2006), Dragonfly (2008), All This Longing (2010) and The Dreamed and the Drowned (2011).
Later collaborations
He also tours with Hank Wangford & The Lost Cowboys, both as a band member and as a solo artist on the No Hall Too Small tours, continuing until Spring 2009.
