RedLight

RedLight is the performance name of Hugh Pescod, a UK producer born in 1980. He is Bristol raised and based in London. His work moves across house, bass and related club styles, with tags including electronic, dubstep, breakbeat, jungle and grime.

Career

Pescod begins releasing music in the early 2000s under the name DJ Clipz, issuing a series of drum and bass records. By the end of that decade he adopts the Redlight alias and shifts towards a garage- and house-based sound. In 2010 he gains wider attention with two dancefloor tracks: Stupid, released on Digital Sound Boy and featuring vocals by Roses Gabor, and What You Talking About!?, issued on Chase & Status’ More Than Alot imprint with Ms Dynamite returning on vocals.

He also releases Source 16 and Progress on Digital Sound Boy. Alongside his own productions, he remixes artists including Cee Lo Green, Maverick Sabre and Ms Dynamite, and continues to work with emerging UK acts.

DJ work and recognition

Redlight’s profile grows through DJ sets across the UK and Europe, together with a bi-monthly Rinse FM show. His music receives support from artists including Skream, Toddla T, Jack Beats, A-Trak, Mark Ronson, Zinc and Annie Mac.
