Keston Cobblers Club
Keston Cobblers Club are a Kent folk and pop group active since 2009. The line-up includes siblings Matthew and Julia, who join school friends Tom, Harry and Bethan.
Style and instrumentation
Their music combines folk roots with contemporary pop, with harmonies, an oom-pah tuba line and a mixture of other instruments. The group frames its sound around the idea of reviving the legacy of the old Cobbler of Keston and his music club.
Releases and recognition
Their debut album, One, For Words, appears in 2012 and receives critical praise. It gains support from BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music presenters Bob Harris, Steve Lamacq and Simon Mayo, as well as attention from a range of online blogs.
Broadcast, sessions and festivals
Keston Cobblers Club record sessions for Burberry Acoustic, BBC Introducing and Daytrotter. They also appear at Bestival, Cambridge Folk and Wilderness, among other festivals.
