Jamie Jones is a Welsh DJ and producer from Caernarfon, United Kingdom, known for house and electronic music with influences across tech house, minimal, afro house, bassline, club, dance, deep house and deep tech. He becomes widely recognised in the mid-2000s through the East London warehouse party scene, playing at venues including T-Bar, Kubicle, The End and fabric, and he also spends consecutive summers working and DJing in Ibiza, where he becomes part of the island’s wider club culture.

DJ career

Jones builds his reputation as a selector with long-running sets that move across different but compatible styles. He gains a residency at DC-10 for Circoloco’s Monday parties in 2010, and in 2011 he is voted World’s No. 1 DJ in Resident Advisor’s annual poll. He remains in the poll’s top 20 until it ends in 2017. He also appears in DJ Mag’s Top 100, reaching No. 68 in 2020, and No. 8 in the publication’s Alternative Top 100, which makes him the highest-ranking house DJ in the world in that ranking. Billboard places him in the Top 50 of its Top 100 list in both 2018 and 2019.

He tours internationally and plays at major clubs and festivals in locations including Colombia, Japan, Moscow, Miami and Australia. His festival and venue appearances include Burning Man, Coachella, Glastonbury, Warung Brazil, Womb Tokyo, Sunwaves in Romania and the main stage at EDC Vegas. In 2018 he also begins a Las Vegas residency, becoming one of the first non-EDM acts to hold a residency there.

Paradise and event curation

In 2013 Jones launches Paradise at DC-10 in Ibiza. After eight seasons there, the event moves to Amnesia in 2021. Paradise develops into a global event brand, with shows in partnership with organisations and festivals including The Warehouse Project, Printworks, Tomorrowland, Club Space Miami, The Brooklyn Mirage, We Are Fstvl, BPM and Loveland. He also starts Paradise in the Park in Los Angeles in 2017.

Production and labels

Jones is a long-standing studio producer, and his discography includes the Don’t You Remember The Future LP. He is especially known for his remix of Azari & III’s Hungry For The Power, which wins Defected’s Track of the Decade in 2019 after six rounds of voting and more than 600,000 votes. Another noted release is his rework of Bob Moses’ Enough to Believe.

His recording work is closely connected with Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels label, and he also releases on his own Hot Creations imprint, alongside the sub-labels HOT TRAX and Emerald City. Hot Creations passes 100 releases and marks the milestone with Jones’s own Kooky Chords. The label also helps launch artists including Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed and Detlef.

Hot Natured and collaborative work

Jones is a member of Hot Natured, the cross-genre group that brings him wider mainstream recognition. The band reaches the UK Top 40 with Benediction and plays two sold-out nights at Brixton Academy, as well as headline performances at Coachella and Glastonbury.

He also works with Kate Simko on Opus1, a classical-meets-electronic live show staged at London’s Barbican Centre with a 25-piece orchestra.
