Get ready to dance under open skies at Y-Not Festival 2026, a beloved four-day music and arts festival in the heart of the Peak District. From July 30th to August 2nd, thousands gather at Green View Farm in Pikehall (near Matlock, Derbyshire) for an immersive summer weekend. Y-Not's friendly, village-like atmosphere and diverse performances set it apart. You’ll find world-class music on multiple stages, plus energetic circus performers, stand-up comedy shows and family-friendly fun around every corner. Delicious local food and drink keep energy levels high as festival-goers wander between activities under sunny skies.
Music lovers are in for a treat. On the main stages you can expect an irresistible mix of sounds: everything from indie and rock bands to electronic DJs and soulful singer-songwriters. Every year Y-Not attracts big-name headliners who fill the air with anthemic hits, while the smaller side stages spotlight fresh talent waiting to be discovered. As night falls, DJs keep the beats spinning in themed tents and acoustic sets spring up in intimate corners, so there’s music to dance to at almost any hour. Y-Not always brings surprises with its eclectic lineup.
But Y-Not isn't only about the music. Wander off to find roaming circus artists, fire jugglers and whimsical art installations adding carnival charm around the grounds. Catch a laugh at the comedy tent, where stand-up acts and improv troupes keep the crowd smiling between sets. There is a dedicated family area as well, where kids and the young-at-heart can enjoy creative workshops, gentle rides and games. Every day brings unexpected surprises. One moment you could be leading a colorful parade, the next you might be drumming with strangers in a woodland clearing. These spontaneous moments of fun are what make Y-Not truly special.
And of course the food is not forgotten! Dozens of local stalls dish up everything from gourmet burgers and barbecue to spicy curries, vegan wraps and sweet treats. Nearby pubs often set up festival bars pouring craft beers, ciders and refreshing summer coolers. Grab a bite and chill on the grassy slopes soaking up the sunshine, friendly chatter and delicious aromas fill the air. Y-Not's mix of great food, lively drinks and a laid-back countryside setting is part of what keeps everyone smiling.
The festival’s communal spirit really shows up in the camping area. Campers wake to panoramic Peak District views, which somehow makes that first cup of coffee taste even better. On-site camping is included with most tickets, turning the Pikehall fields into a giant friendly village: you’ll swap stories and share snacks with new friends, or join impromptu acoustic sing-alongs by campfires as dusk falls. If a tent isn't your style, the nearby towns of Matlock, Buxton and Bakewell have cozy hotels and B&Bs (though they fill up fast, so reserve early). No matter where you stay, each day begins with the promise of new adventures and friendships.
Y-Not is a chance to escape the everyday: four perfect days singing your heart out, sampling local food and lying under the stars listening to acoustic sets. It is an experience you and your fellow festival-goers will never forget.
By car: The Y-Not Festival site is at Green View Farm in Pikehall, near Matlock. The main routes are via the A6 or A515; look for bright yellow Y-Not road signs directing vehicles onto Mouldridge Lane, which leads to the festival entrance. Expect heavy traffic on Thursday and Friday mornings, so if possible try to arrive outside peak times. Onsite parking is available and clearly marked, just remember that you will likely need to park and then walk a short distance to the camping fields with your gear. Car-pooling is popular, and official parking maps (posted on the festival website closer to the date) show where to go.
Public transport: There is no direct train or bus to Pikehall, but you can use nearby stations or coach routes. The closest train stations are Matlock and Buxton (about 15–25 minutes by taxi from the site). Matlock station runs on the Derby–Matlock line, and Buxton lies on the Manchester–Sheffield line. Many visitors train to Derby or Manchester and then catch a local train to Matlock or Buxton. From there, pre-book a taxi or hire a ride-share for the final leg to Pikehall. Dedicated festival coaches may also run from major cities, so check announcements before you travel. Regular buses go to Matlock and Buxton towns, but none go closer to the festival site, so you’d still need a taxi from those towns.
By plane: The nearest major airport is East Midlands Airport (EMA), about 40–50 minutes from Matlock. From there you can rent a car or take the train (via Derby) to Matlock station. Manchester Airport and Birmingham Airport are about 1.5-2 hours' drive away, offering more flight options; from either you would drive or take a train to Derby or Matlock first. Public transport from these airports usually requires at least one train change, so many travelers prefer renting a car. If you arrive on early flights, consider staying overnight near Derby or Matlock to rest before heading to the festival.
Accommodation: Y-Not provides on-site camping for fans (bring a tent or camper; spots may sell out fast once tickets go on sale). For non-campers, the surrounding towns have lodging. Matlock, Buxton and Bakewell each offer hotels, B&Bs and rental cottages (all within 15–20 minutes’ drive). Nearby villages like Biggin and Hartington have cozy country inns and pubs with rooms too. All of these book up quickly over festival weekend, so reserve as early as possible. Remember that road closures and festival traffic can delay travel, so give yourself extra time if you’re staying offsite. Planning your trip in advance will help ensure a smooth Y-Not experience.
