Scouting for Girls
Scouting for Girls are a UK indie pop band from London, active since 2005. The group consists of Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Peter Ellard. Their name is a play on the title of Scouting for Boys, the handbook first published in 1908 for the Scouts.
Early releases
The band’s self-titled debut album sells over 900,000 copies and reaches number one in the UK, where it stays for two weeks. Seven singles are released from the album, including “She’s So Lovely”, which is used at the start of the 2008 film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.
Recognition and later work
Scouting for Girls are nominated for Best New Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2008, and they later receive three BRIT Award nominations. They also receive an award for Best British Band at the Nordiff Robbins awards. Their second album, Everybody Wants To Be On TV, is released in 2010 after the single “This Ain’t A Love Song”, which reaches number one in the UK top 40 at Easter. The band tours the album during 2010, with dates in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.
Fan club
The band’s fan club is called the “Wolfcubs” and is based on the Dennis the Menace fan club.
