Midstock Festival was the brainchild of Scott St Clair Gunn and Wullie Slight after their company The Scullery fed the crowds at many Tough Mudder events held at the Dalkeith Country Park. It was then that Slight realised that the location was perfect for a local live music festival so that's what they decided to do.
In the beginning, they saw it as an opportunity to showcase the best of Scottish music and the first signing on the first year was Dundee's favourite sons The View and following that, it quickly grew in prominence with that first bill featuring the likes of The Rebel Westerns and legends like The Bay City Rollers and Big Country.
The story was due to continue in 2021 after the 2020 event was cancelled, but further postponements were made due to restrictions surrounding Covid-19.
