About Green Gathering
At Piercefield Park, Newport, Wales, Green Gathering 2027 runs from 29 July to 1 August as an off-grid, low-impact festival with a 5,000 capacity.
The roots go back to Green Collective gatherings at Worthy Farm in the early 1980s. The Big Green Gathering Company formed in 1993, the first Big Green Gathering drew almost 2,000 people in 1994, and the event re-formed as a Community Interest Company after a 2010 community camp.
The current Welsh-borders site near Chepstow dates to 2011. In 2017, Green Gathering won the Greenest Festival accolade at the UK Festival Awards.
Lineup and Programme
The bill stretches from psychedelic and folk into punk, political singer-songwriter sets, swing, dance, hip-hop, ska, reggae, poetry, comedy and cabaret.
Named stages and spaces include Soundscape Solar Stage, Triban Stage, Floating Lotus Stage, Raconteurs' Delight, Speakers' Forum & Radical Cinema, Voices of Gaia, The Uncommon and Glad Apple Cider Bar.
Across the programme, live music and DJs sit alongside spoken word, talks and debates, workshops, cabaret, comedy, film screenings, dance, craft sessions, kids' activities and teen activities. The festival uses 100% solar electricity and renewable-powered stages.
Who Is It For?
The audience is mixed-age, family-friendly and eco-conscious, with the programme built around low-impact living, activism, music, arts, workshops and community spaces.
Families are part of the brief. Under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18+, and tickets can only be bought independently by people aged 18 or over.
