About Counterflows
Counterflows 2027 returns to CCA, Glasgow, from 1–4 April 2027 with an experimental music bill rooted in contemporary music, sound art, free improvisation and electronic music.
The count matters here. The 2027 edition is listed as the festival’s 15th year, following an inaugural version in 2011 across Glasgow, Berlin and London and a 2012 edition after which Glasgow became its base.
In 2013, Lina Lapelyte’s Candy Shop was the festival’s first major commission. That year also brought the first residency with CCA and the Goethe Institute.
Who Is It For?
Counterflows is aimed at an open, adventurous audience for experimental and contemporary music. The festival describes its approach as inclusive, accessible and community-minded.
Daytime events are all ages when under-18s are accompanied by an adult. Late-night hangs and club nights at The Art School are 18+.
Music Space began in 2022 with support and access for 16–25 year olds, two bursaries a year and Creative Sessions.

The CCA address puts the main site at 350 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 3JD. CCA stands for Centre for Contemporary Arts.
