Turbowolf
Turbowolf is a Bristol, United Kingdom-based group active since 2008. The band line-up includes Chris Georgiadis on vocals and synthesiser, Andy Ghosh on guitar, Lianna Lee Davies on bass and Blake Davies on drums. Their music is generally described as hard rock and alternative metal, with elements of rock and roll, psychedelia, heavy metal, punk rock and electronica. They are also associated with hard rock, stoner rock, rock, punk rock and Goat Power.
Career
The band develops its sound through extensive touring and live performance. Before releasing its first album, it plays shows across the UK with The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Computers, Pulled Apart by Horses and Dinosaur Pile-Up. In 2010 it tours Europe with Korn and Dimmu Borgir. It also appears at a wide range of festivals, including Download, Sonisphere, Lovebox, The Great Escape, SXSW, Boardmasters and Hevy.
Turbowolf signs to Hassle Records in June 2011 and releases its first single, A Rose for the Crows, soon after. Read & Write follows, with a video that premieres on NME. In October 2012 the band issues Covers EP Vol 1, featuring versions of songs by The Hives, MGMT, Lightning Bolt and Jefferson Airplane/The Great Society.
Albums and singles
The band’s debut album, Turbowolf, is released in 2011 on Hassle Records. In April 2014 it releases the single Solid Gold as a free download through Kerrang!. Later in 2014 it issues Rabbits Foot, which receives support from BBC Radio 1 and becomes its most listened-to song at that point. The second album, Two Hands, follows in 2015. The band also announces work on an album titled Quell: The Ever Changing Sorcerer of Past, Present & Future.
Activity and touring
Turbowolf continues to tour and record across the 2010s, including headlining dates and a tour with Death From Above 1979. The band’s media coverage often notes that it is difficult to place neatly within one genre because of its varied influences.
