Toddla T

Toddla T is a DJ and producer from Sheffield, United Kingdom, born in 1985. He is associated with UK garage, grime, dancehall, electronic music, dubstep and ragga, and he also works with a live or backing group called Toddla T Sound.

Background

He grows out of Sheffield’s electronic music culture, with references to the city’s “Bleep” sound running through his DJ sets, edits and original late-night productions. He is brought up on bashment and develops an early interest in sound systems and bass-heavy music.

Career

As a teenager, he makes beats and is later appointed in-house studio engineer at Sheffield’s Kenwood Studios at 19. His work includes DJ stints, rerubs and original material, with a style shaped by Sheffield electronics, bass music and dancehall influence.
