Railroad Bill
Railroad Bill is a skiffle act from Cardiff, known for a lively stage style and for performing in both traditional and electric forms of skiffle. The group has been active for 20 years and has won numerous busking competitions. It also performs in a range of locations, including Italy and Singapore, and is part of Cardiff’s “Meltdown” sessions.
Style and repertoire
The act plays a mix of old-west train songs, skiffle standards and self-penned songs. Its performances use several instruments, including guitars, mandolin, banjolin, washboard and tea-chest bass. The shows are described as raucous and humorous, with an emphasis on showmanship.
Output and versions
Railroad Bill presents two distinct sets, or versions, of the band: “Traditional Skiffle” and “Electric Skiffle”. Earlier recordings are noted as especially worth finding.
