Marsicans

Marsicans are a UK indie rock band from Leeds. The group forms at high school in 2011 and consists of James Newbigging on lead vocals and guitar, Oliver Jameson on guitar and vocals, Rob Brander on bass, keys and vocals, and Matthew McHale on drums and vocals.

Their music sits across indie pop, indie rock, pop and rock, with a sound described in terms of upbeat indie and pop elements. Their influences include classic pop, rock, indie, samba, The Beach Boys, and Paul Simon’s Graceland.

The band is known for pop hooks, harmonies, quirky lyrics, Yorkshire accents, offbeat northern humour and energetic live performances. They build a strong following through regular sold-out shows at home and touring around the UK.

Marsicans appear at larger festivals including Reading & Leeds and Live At Leeds, and they support acts such as Catfish & the Bottlemen, The Pigeon Detectives and Embrace.
