Jess Morgan

Jess Morgan is a British singer-songwriter from Norwich, England. She writes and performs folk and roots music, drawing on both British and North American folk traditions. Her songs are marked by a distinctive voice and a writing style that often uses plots and characters set in specific real places and periods.

Early releases and touring

In 2009, Morgan is adopted by the music scene in Bergen, Norway, where she records her first full-length album. Around the same period, she tours for three weeks with co-producer HP Gundersen, who plays pedal steel. With support from Norfolk County Council, she also puts together a three-week tour of America’s North Shore, covering 11 venues across seven states in 22 days, including performances in Connecticut and at Greenwich Village’s The Bitter End.

Albums and EPs

Morgan releases her second album, Aye Me, in 2012. In 2015, she issues the Bournemouth EP, which is conceived as a limited-run release. Her first album attracts positive notices from figures including Nicky Chinn, Trevor Heaton, Bright Young Folk and Folk Radio UK.

Dance music work

Alongside her acoustic and folk work, Morgan appears as a featured vocalist and co-writer on several dance music and trance tracks. These recordings feature on albums by Armin van Buuren and Beat Service, and some of them enter the Beatport top 10 and the UK albums chart.
