Basement Jaxx, Craig Charles, Blonde & more for Groove Cairngorm

Festival Crowd Header

GROOVE CAIRNGORM returns for it’s second outing across The CairnGorm Mountains and Badaguish Outdoor Centre on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th February 2017.

Glastonbury headlining, three million album selling, Brit and Grammy winning maestros of global dancetronica BASEMENT JAXX (dj set) top the bill. Basement Jaxx are on top of the world and now top of the mountain! It’s a view these inveterate musical explorers have long embraced, ever since minting, at the turn of the millennium, the currently voguish, airwave-dominating pop-house sound.

CRAIG CHARLES FUNK & SOUL CLUB will be bringing his selection of classic tracks to the Apres-ski party. Put your dancing shoes on because the UK’s best loved funk and soul DJ is armed with a trunk of funk and he’s not afraid to use it. With a primetime Saturday Funk and Soul show on BBC 6 Music (6pm-9pm) and a new weekend BBC Radio 2 show, The Craig Charles House Party (10pm-midnight), he provides the ultimate soundtrack to house parties all over the country every week.

Also appearing are dynamic house production duo BLONDE who have been taking the UK by storm over the past couple of years with a string of huge tracks including ‘All Cried Out’, ‘I loved You’ and the Craig David collaboration ‘Nothing Like This’.

Performing a DJ set over the weekend is MIKE SKINNER, the man behind the musical phenomenon that was The Streets for over ten years. In that time he won an Ivor Novello, a Brit, and changed the sound of UK music forever. Now that he has retired the moniker of The Streets, Mike continues to push things forward with his genre bending DJ sets.

Other acts appearing over the weekend include, musical duo THE 2 BEARS composed of Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) and Raf Rundell, London’s HORSEMEAT DICSO who will be bringing the disco vibes, and emerging Highland’s based producer MARK MACKENZIE.

The final acts announced in the initial line-up include, one of the most exciting emerging rock acts in the UK HUNTER & THE BEAR, INDIGO VELVET will be bringing their brand of tropical pop to the Scottish winter festival, and finally to kick things off in on the Friday in true Scottish Fashion and get everyone warmed up after a day up the mountain, we have young traditional Scottish act HO-RO.

The final few acts for the Apres-ski element will be announced in the coming weeks along with the full line-up of entertainment taking place up the mountain throughout the weekend across 2 stages.

Dougie Brown (Groove Cairngorm) said ‘We are delighted to be bringing another incredible line-up of artists to our very own snowsports festival right here in the UK. After the huge success of our first outing last year we can’t wait to be partying up and down the mountain again next February!’

Ross Coulter (CairnGorm Mountain) added ‘Having already had our first dusting of snow on the tops of the Cairngorms, we are super excited to be able to announce such a great line-up for next year’s festival. The event was a big hit last year and we are looking forward to building on this by making it even bigger and better in 2017!’
