Joining the heavyweight comedy bill will be seasoned improviser and ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ stalwart Phill Jupitus. Performing alongside his comedy chums, Jupitus will undertake bizarre suggestions from the audience and make them happen.

The Apple Cart, a day festival catered towards both adults and children alike presents London with an entirely fresh, multi-disciplinary take on the festival experience: no other event in the capital has award winning cabaret stars, Turner prize winning artists and world class magicians sit happily alongside reputable comedians and established music legends all on the same bill, on the same day. Making its final line-up announcement of the year, The Apple Cart is pleased to announce some exciting new additions.

Joining the heavyweight comedy bill will be seasoned improviser and ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ stalwart Phill Jupitus. Performing alongside his comedy chums, Jupitus will undertake bizarre suggestions from the audience and make them happen, live and utterly impromptu. Famed for being the only remaining member of the original line up of ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’ which is now in its twenty-third series, Phill has regularly performed stand-up and even turned his hand to musicals, receiving much critical acclaim for his portrayal of Edna Turnblad in the West End stage hit musical Hairspray in 2009.

American writer, musician and deadpan comic genius Rich Hall will also be heading to Victoria Park for The Apple Cart Festival.  In addition to performing his award winning stand-up, Rich will be performing his renowned Hoedown which sees him invite audience members to take to the stage with him alongside a fully working bar and a host of musical chums for a hilarious mash up of music and comedy as they cover everything from Steve Earle to Dr Dre in a hilarious alcohol-fueled knees up.

Britpop pioneer and Supergrass main man Gaz Coombes has been also been confirmed to play, showcasing new material in addition to indie classics, along with Aidan Moffat (front man of Scottish seminal indie band Arab Strap) and multi-instrumentalist Bill Wells who sparked up a relationship after meeting in a pub eight years ago and have recently released their debut album ‘Everything’s Getting Older’.

Soulful and hyped new female singer Lianne La Havas shall be bringing her beautiful heartbreak songs to Victoria Park ahead of the release of her much anticipated debut album in July, and fellow ‘BBC Sound of 2012’ musician Jamie N Commons (+ five piece band) will bring his arsenal of songs that sound as though they were written for Johnny Cash.

In addition to the high caliber of music and comedy talent that will be gracing The Apple Cart, the cabaret tent will be making a welcomed return to Victoria Park adding some spice into the mix. The salacious line-up features Dickie Beau and Kiki Kaboom who won ‘Best Alternative’ and ‘Best Burlesque’ performers respectively at the recent London Cabaret Awards. The fabulous LipSinkers are back after proving a hit at last year’s festival and adult magic will come courtesy of Piff the Magic Dragon and mime/drag action from Ryan Styles.

The Art Car Boot Fair returns to the Apple Cart and is proud to present ‘The Art of Influence’. There will be all manner of ways to make your mark, including by gun, plus the 30 second art masterclass, and the art improvement clinic where anything you have on you can be transformed into art by a team of on-site artists. Sideshow attractions include the 2 hour portrait, the potato print portrait and poem portraits. Additionally, music will be provided courtesy of east London haunt the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. Plus, adults and children alike can help make the biggest splat painting and take a piece of abstract expressionism home with you, rolled up in your pocket!
