Dirty Dancing: The Musical

Dirty Dancing The Musical

Nothing is missing from the stage version (well, apart from Patrick and Jennifer... But this cannot be helped!)

Dirty Dancing is the ultimate love story, which is why it is still positively famed as an iconic film to this day. Originally starring Patrick Swayze as the handsome Johnny and the endearing Frances, nicknamed ‘Baby’ played by Jennifer Grey, this 1987 release is classed as one of those rare moving pictures that we will never tire of watching.

The story of the soon-to-be couples romance was made available to see live in London’s West End from October 2006 and has since gone on to entertain the rest of the UK in different British cities from 2011.

Just like the Oscar-winning flick the musical features many jaw-dropping dance routines and vocal performances by a top-rated cast.

Nothing is missing from the stage version (well, apart from Patrick and Jennifer... But this cannot be helped!). ‘Hungry Eyes’, ‘Cry To Me’, ‘Do You Love Me’ and not forgetting the significant ‘(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life’ all fit perfectly into the 2 hours and 30 minute (including interval) production.

Humorous lines such as “I carried a watermelon” and the famous “Nobody puts Baby in a corner” are not scrapped either, plus nor is the finale with the memorable lift (which many of us wouldn’t like to admit to having re-enacted ourselves!)

After a triumphant run in 2013, Dirty Dancing The Musical returns to The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury from Tuesday 4th - Saturday 22nd August 2015.
