Winchester Hat Fair
2015 marks the 41st Winchester Hat Fair and the festival is famous as the UK’s longest running festival of street theatre and outdoor arts. This year’s festival is celebrated between 3rd and 5th July.
Bright, colourful and with a vibrant carnival atmosphere, the Winchester Hair Fair is a voluntary event which is free and takes its name from the traditional act of buskers laying down their hats. It takes over the whole of Winchester city centre and many different acts get involved. The line up is packed with impromptu events, all fee, and acts confirmed and guaranteed to turn up include locals Wet Picnic, dance acts such as Stopgap and there will also be dedicated children’s area in Cathedral Inner Close. Much more is yet to be announced for this year’s Hat Fair. There is also a citywide flashmob to look out for.
