About The Magpies Festival
Sutton Park Stately Home gives the event its shape, with music set in the grounds of a country estate north of York. The Magpies Festival returns there on 13–14 August 2027, bringing a two-day music festival bill rooted in folk, Americana, roots, acoustic, bluegrass and world music. It began in 2021.
The festival has a recent run of sell-outs: its second year sold out in 2022, the 2025 edition sold out before the event, and the 2026 edition also sold out. Tickets start from £55, with day tickets, weekend tickets and camping options available.
Lineup and Programme
The bill leans into folk and roots music rather than mainstream festival rotation. The music runs across the Main Stage and the Brass Castle Stage.
Beyond the stages, the programme includes workshops and activities for younger festival-goers. Food and drink come from independent traders, with artisan market stalls also on site.
Who Is It For?
The Magpies Festival is built for a mixed-age folk and roots crowd, with children welcome when supervised. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and children under five attend free.
Dogs are allowed in the arena and campsite if kept on a lead. The festival also puts inclusivity and gender equality at the centre of its identity.
The Venue and Site
Sutton Park Stately Home sits on Main Street in Sutton-on-the-Forest, York, at YO61 1DP. The festival uses the estate grounds for its arena and campsite.
Camping is available for tents, campervans, motorhomes and caravans. Cars can park next to tents in the campsite, and the facilities are basic, with no electricity hook-ups.
Facilities include campsite toilets, showers near Gate B and two chemical toilet disposal points. There is also an Information Point with stewards on duty, an ambulance on site throughout the event, and accessible parking and camping.
