Ashleyhay is a charity run festival full of good music, good food and drink, some drama and a lot of dancing. The festival is rubbish-free and is run completely by volunteers, even the musicians perform for free and all surplus cash goes directly to causes which support people and animals less fortunate than us such as Greenpeace, ROKPA (direct support for Tibet), Mamelodi Trust (Education for the poor in South Africa), Aquabox (clean water for disaster areas), Sri Lanka Aid Project (from Wirksworth).
Across the two day festival at the beginning of July 30 bands will perform a range of music including folk and rock. There will also be some amateur dramatics, buskers, stalls, face-painting, a cocktail bar, the Baa Bar serving real ales and wine and a festival cafe.
