The Pigeon Detectives

The Pigeon Detectives are an indie rock band from Leeds, with origins in Rothwell, and have been active since 2002. Their sound draws on influences including The Beatles, The Kinks and The Velvet Underground. The group is made up of David Best, Matt Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Oliver Main, Jimmi Naylor and Ryan Wilson.

Career

The band forms in 2002 and begins to attract wider attention after performances at the 2006 Reading and Leeds festivals, where they receive strong support from DJs and the music press. At that stage they are described as a band with the potential to move on to larger stages the following year. In spring 2006 they support Dirty Pretty Things on tour, and in early November 2006 they support Kaiser Chiefs, another West Yorkshire band that is known to be fans of the group, at a number of shows across Europe.

Festival appearances

On 8 July 2007, The Pigeon Detectives play the Radio 1 NME Stage at T in the Park in front of a large crowd. The performance is televised later that day on BBC Three. They also play a secret gig at Leeds Festival 2008, following in the Kaisers' footsteps.
