The Jim Jones Revue
The Jim Jones Revue form in 2007, led by Jim Jones, who has previously played with Thee Hypnotics and Black Moses. The line-up also includes Rupert Orton, the club promoter and brother of Beth Orton, along with Gavin Jay, Nick Jones and Henri Herbert. The group plays a piano-driven style that draws on 1950s rock and roll and garage rock, with a loud, fast and forceful live sound.
Releases
The band’s self-titled debut album appears in 2008 and is recorded in 48 hours. The following year they issue the singles compilation Here to Save Your Soul. Their second album, Burning Down Your House, follows in 2010 and is produced by Jim Sclavunos of the Bad Seeds. Their third album, Savage Heart, arrives in 2012, is also produced by Sclavunos, and includes the ballad “Midnight Oceans and the Savage Heart” alongside harder rock tracks.
Live work and end of activity
By the time of their first releases, the group already has a strong reputation on the live circuit, with performances described as intense and very loud. After seven years and three albums, the band announces plans to disband in 2014 and plays a farewell tour called The Last Hurrah.
