The Human Project

The Human Project are a band from Leeds, active in melodic punk, skate punk and hardcore-leaning punk rock. Their sound is described as combining fast drumming, technical guitar work and harmonic vocals, with material that moves between aggressive and more controlled passages. The group also draws on influences associated with Thrice and RX Bandits.

History and live activity

The band goes through numerous line-up changes and setbacks, but continues as an active Leeds punk group. They appear multiple times at Rebellion Festival in Blackpool and share stages with Strung Out, This Is A Standoff, The Flatliners and Death By Stereo, among others.

Releases

The Human Project release the EP Trials, which gains attention in the UK punk scene. Their recorded work is noted for detailed musicianship and thoughtful lyrics, and they also have a debut album in progress in the period described in the text.

Related project

The name is also used by Loyd Vandergriff, who records and performs under the name The Human Project in a separate solo context. That project is associated with original songs such as “Workin Too Hard,” “Ridin This Train,” “Jimmy’s Juke Joint,” and “Standing in The Shadows,” and later releases including The Real Stuff, Human Project II Humanized, Best of The Human Project and Last Train Out. Vandergriff also hosts podcast shows under the Human Project name.
