The Drop

The Drop is a nine-piece roots-rock-reggae group based in and around London. It is associated with the British new-wave reggae scene and a British reggae revival, combining roots reggae, dub and rock with careful arrangements that leave space for prominent bass lines and vocals.

The group is noted for its dense but uncluttered sound, built around syncopated rhythms, dub-informed bass and lyrics from vocalist Dandelion. Its music is described as drawing on earlier reggae traditions while adding an eclectic character of its own.

Dandelion is the most recent addition to the band and is an established reggae artist in his own right. Before joining The Drop, he works on solo projects and appears as a vocalist on several dubstep releases, including CCTV on Hyperdub, which receives radio support from Mary Anne Hobbs and Gilles Peterson on Radio 1.
