Saltfishforty

Saltfishforty is a Scottish folk duo from the Orkney Islands. The group consists of Douglas Montgomery and Brian Cromarty, with Montgomery playing fiddle and viola and Cromarty playing guitar, mandola and vocals.

Music and releases

The duo combines traditional music from Orkney with original compositions. Their debut album, Goose Music, appears in 2003. Their second album, Orkney Twister, follows in 2005.

Recognition and live work

In 2004, Saltfishforty receive a nomination in the BBC Scottish Traditional Music Awards in the category of up and coming artist of the year. They build a reputation as a live act on the Scottish festival circuit and also perform at festivals in Spain, France, England, Ireland, Belgium, Norway, the United States and Canada. Their festival appearances include two visits to the Cannes film festival, a week in Austin, Texas, and an appearance at Celtic Colours in Cape Breton in 2008.
