Roachford is a London-based band led by singer and songwriter Andrew Roachford. The group forms around his vocals and writing, and it works across soul, pop, R&B and rock.

Background

Andrew Roachford is born and raised in South London to West Indian parents. Roachford is active from 1987 and remains in operation as a group with Andrew Roachford, Chris Taylor, Hawi Gondwe and Elisha “Eli” Murray.

Chart success and recordings

The band achieves four gold albums and records eleven UK top 50 singles. Its best-known song is “Cuddly Toy”, first issued in 1988 and later re-released in 1989, when it reaches number 4 in the UK chart. Other charting singles include “Find Me Another Love”, “Family Man”, “Kathleen”, “Get Ready!”, “Only To Be With You”, “Lay Your Love On Me”, “This Generation”, “Cry For Me”, “I Know You Don't Love Me”, “The Way I Feel”, “How Could I? (Insecurity)” and “Naked Without You”.

Albums

Roachford’s albums include Roachford, Get Ready!, Permanent Shade of Blue, Feel and The Roachford Files. Permanent Shade of Blue, released in 1994, combines pop, soul, blues and rock with socially and politically aware lyrics and receives strong sales and critical attention.

Andrew Roachford

Andrew Roachford also releases solo albums Heart of the Matter and Word of Mouth. He is Columbia Records’ longest-serving recording artist and later becomes a member of the reformed Mike & the Mechanics.
